Directive 128/09, transposed with Legislative Decree no. 150/2012, lays down requirements to ensure a “sustainable use” of plant protection products. Among the various provisions, the extension of the requirement for periodic functional testing to all sprayers in use should be highlighted. More specifically, this action provides that: by 26/11/2016 all equipment used for professional purposes (atomizers, spray bars, etc.) must be subjected to functional verification, at least once. After this date, only the means for professional use that have passed the verification tests may be used, The verifications must be carried out every 5 years until 31 December 2020 and every 3 years thereafter. From 26/11/2011, even the new equipment has 5 years, from the date of purchase, to be subjected to functional checks.
